This is what Becky scrawled on the notes she wrote to her family and friends 19 years ago telling them she planned to jump in the ocean in Kennebunk, Maine on New Year's Day, to raise money for a good cause.
That year, Becky had one simple goal: help Caring Unlimited provide life-changing support services and opportunities to anyone experiencing domestic violence.
As a young mother, Becky made the decision to leave an abusive partner and found the safety and support she needed at her parents' home. Knowing the difference that time and space made in her own life, Becky decided to take action to ensure that all families could access the resources and support she was lucky to have had.
What started as a hand-written note and one woman's jump into the ocean, has grown into a critical community-wide event that helps sustain the confidential, round-the-clock programs and services Caring Unlimited offers to anyone impacted by domestic violence.

Don't get cold feet! Shoes or socks (that will come off easily after you Plunge) will help keep your feet comfortable and safe as you run and in and out of the water!
Strategize! We'll have a school bus on site with the heat running, so even if you have to park and walk to The Plunge you can check in then take advantage of the heat until it's time to line up! You can even leave some dry stuff on the bus to stay toasty, or have one support person designated to stay put with your warm dry stuff so you know right where they are when you run out!
Brag! Tell everyone what you're doing, and why! Ask for pledges in support of you, and Caring Unlimited's programs and services! Create a personalized fundraising page to share online!
Can I collect pledges offline?
Yes! Pledges donated offline can be turned in at the event or mailed to:
